Opportunity doesn’t knock,
It whispers and eludes.
Lies dormant for years and years
And sometimes never moves.
Opportunity doesn’t knock,
Doesn’t bang down your door.
It scuffs at the edge of your chimney
And seeps between the floor.
Opportunity doesn’t knock,
Doesn’t politely wait outside.
You really have to hunt for it
Because it loves to hide.
Opportunity doesn’t knock.
It either simpers and evades,
Or mugs you in an alley
And leaves you quite afraid.
